When you're apart of a great team....

Confilict is Inevitable Violence is not

For the past two years, I have worked as a student graphic designer for the Marketing & Communications department at Pacific Lutheran University. Without a doubt I can say, I love where I work.

In the picture to the right, you can see my boss, Simon, and my coworker, Hans, setting up for an event. That event was one of the difficult designs projects I have worked on since I have been an intern. It was stressful, tedious and time-consuming. Yet, my team and I were able to finish everything on time. With them, this daunting project was fun and a great learning process.

There is something amazing that happens when you work with a great team. For one, you feel comfortable. I truly feel like belong here. Being here, I feel like I can be myself and design things that I want to. Let me tell, this is one of the best feelings in the world. My coworkers are more than just coworkers. They are my friends.

Working here, there is always a strong level of encouragement but also competition. Everyday at work, I am challenged to be better than I was the day before. All the feedback that I receive comes from a place of respect and concern for my professional growth.

Lastly, everything is just fun. During work hours, we can laugh through the stressful times. Through our time working together, we have found different things to connect over. From video games to anime, we all have something in common that we can talked about.

As a result of my amazing team, I have grown professionally, mentally and as a designer. I have so many amazing portfolio pieces I can use thanks to the guidance of my coworkers. Best of all, when I go to work, it makes me so happy to be there.

Even though I have to graduate soon, I wish this could be my career. I truly hope that the next place I work out will be as amazing as it is here. I know whoever the next intern will be they will be in good hands.
