STORY TIME

The start of my design career

During my second year of college, one of my coworkers encouraged me to apply for a design internship with Pacific Lutheran University’s Marketing and Communications department. At the time, I didn’t even feel qualified for the internship because I had absolutely no experience in design other than what I learned through YouTube and experimenting. After a lot of arm twisting, I was finally convinced to apply and ended up getting the job. This internship, and the mentors I had while there, opened my mind to the world of design, providing me with hands-on training, and a much needed education on the principles of design and marketing. Shaping me into the designer I am today.

A very PLU story

During my final year, my last project was the "My PLU Story" campaign. I was the "leading actress" in the advertisement that played in theaters across the US. I also created the art book featured in the ad which highlights my favorite memories or places at PLU.

" Lexi is the only intern we ever had for 3 consecutive years. I don't know how that happened..."

The "legacy" I left behind

Looking back, I am so thankful I had this 3-year experience. Convincing them to let me stay so I could continue to learn and be a part of an amazing team was the best thing I did. During that time, my most popular designs were the Dog Day posters. Everyone loved the dog illustrations and it was requested year after year. One of my favorite projects was the Sing Conference when i finally got to lead a campaign because my design was chosen by the client. I can truly say they changed my life for the better.
